COMMUNITY BARK WEST
Glenview’s special place for dogs and their owners to
exercise, socialize and have fun is located within
Community Park West. This fenced 6-acre off-leash park
has a separate small dog area within the larger main
park. It is open to dog pass purchasers only.
OPEN YEAR-ROUND: DAWN TO 9 pm
• Community Bark West dog park passes are on sale on a first-
come, first-served basis until the 1,000 dog maximum is reached.
• Dog pass applications are available at Park Center,
2400 Chestnut Ave., or online at glenviewparks.org.
A separate application is required for each dog.
All dog park users pay a seasonal fee, meet Cook County and
Village of Glenview vaccination, health screening and licensing
requirements, and sign a liability waiver to obtain a dog pass.
Dog passes are non-transferrable. Each dog must have its own
dog pass to use the park. Dog Park passes are on sale year-round.

INTRO TO ODOR
Now that you and your dog have discovered the fun of Nose Work
it’s time to transition from searching for food to searching for the
first level target odor, birch. As your dog improves its hunting
skills, you will improve your ability to read your canine partner.
Note: This class is for dogs that have completed Intro to Nose
Work or have the instructor’s permission. When not working, your
dog will need to be crated within the building or kept in the car.

NOSE WORK
Enjoy the exciting new dog sport that was created to utilize a
dog's natural scenting ability. It's a great way for any dog to have
fun, build confidence, and use lots of mental and physical energy.
Any dog; shy, reactive, old, young, bored, or exuberant can partici-
pate and the only equipment needed is a leash, collar and treats.
Obedience is not needed but always appreciated. The emphasis is
on fun for the dog and handler. We start with simple searches –
locating food in boxes – and progress to more complicated puz-
zles over time. Dogs already enrolled in past nose work classes
will continue to expand their skills. All dogs work independently
and must be confined when not working. You can either bring a
crate or confine the dog in the car when not working.
