“ Jackson had delayed his proposal through Covid so we could plan our wedding with more certainty and only have a short engagement ,” says Georgina . Meaning they pulled off “ I do ” in just over six months ! “ We thoroughly enjoyed the wedding planning ,” admits Georgina . “ We ’ re both very organised people , and loved the research and getting to know our vendors . By the end , there were hundreds of emails and many a phone call to bring our dream day to life .”
First step : locking in a local venue so their 108 beloved guests ( mainly Brisbane-based ) wouldn ’ t have far to travel . “ We also wanted a mix of the old and the new ,” says Georgina . “ The stonework and architecture of Old Government House really appealed to us ( and the nerdy public servants in us both really liked the history of the building too !). We just wanted a massive party for our reception so the W Hotel made for that perfect combination .”
With Jackson kitted out in a classic tuxedo , Georgina knew her gown would be equally timeless . “ I knew I wanted something classic that I could look back on in 50 years ’ time and know I would still wear again ,” she says . “ Wendy Makin just created the most amazing dress in Mikado silk — I would wear it again in a heartbeat .” Naturally , the couple ’ s florals came through for the brief . “ We wanted light and bright — a lot of pinks and oranges and magnolia foliage ,” explains Georgina . “ We let our florist ( Gloriosa Florals ) loose on creating a masterpiece and she certainly delivered . The courtyard absolutely popped with colour and it really complemented the architecture . And the customisable lighting at the W Hotel just enhanced the florals further !” queenslandbrides . com . au 67
