[ Left ] Stealing a quiet , just-married moment . [ Above ] Florals took on a deliciously moody feel as celebrations segued from old to new at W Brisbane . [ Below ] The music-mad newlyweds wasted no time hitting the dance floor with guests . [ Bottom right ] Pass the sabre please .

A snippet of family history gave the bridal car a special gravitas . When Georgina ’ s 100-year-old grandmother , Anna ( affectionately called Paw Paw ) lived in Papua New Guinea , she imported a 1974 S Class Mercedes from Australia . The car was eventually shipped back to Australia on Anna ’ s return , and remained in the family . “ When Paw Paw became too old to drive , she sold the car to Jackson ’ s father , who has lovingly restored it ,” says Georgina . “ It was so special to have both Paw Paw and her old car with us .”
To get the reception party started ( stat !), the music-lovers enlisted an eight-piece ensemble to play throughout the night so they could bust a move at a moment ’ s notice . “ We didn ’ t want our guests to have to wait until we ’ d had our first dance ,” says Georgina . “ So , when we entered the room , we invited ( insisted !) everybody to come to the dance floor and ‘ break it in ’.”
Speaking of guests , it was a special gift that provided some of the day ’ s most memorable ( and hilarious ) moments . “ Jackson ’ s groomsmen imported a Champagne sabre from France – we used it to pop countless bottles of Champagne , cut our cake , and even pretend to knight some of our guests !” says Georgina , who highly recommends acquiring one . “ We ’ ll never open a bottle of bubbles the same way again !”
The wedding ’ s old to new / day to night vibe was beautifully captured by About Time Co . with the couple thanking all their vendors for creating a big-fun party in a relatively tight timeframe . “ Everyone went above and beyond to bring our special day to life , and we couldn ’ t be more grateful ,” says Georgina .
On this note , the bride has some excellent advice for other couples . “ If you ’ re not confident in bringing together all of the bits and pieces , don ’ t hesitate to outsource !” she says . “ It is a massive job , and you want to enjoy the whole journey .” The couple enjoyed a week on the Sunshine Coast immediately after the wedding , with the weather proving an unexpected blessing . “ It rained all week , which was just perfect and exactly what we needed — just a week to relax and relive all of the amazing moments was just phenomenal ,” says Georgina . “ We ’ re also doing Honeymoon 2.0 – three nights in Adelaide / the Barossa , a night in Melbourne to see Hamilton , just over a week in Tasmania , then a night in Sydney to see Moulin Rouge – can ’ t wait !” Cheers to that !
