Utah Institutions Unite to Launch the Gail Miller Utah Impact Fund
In October, the Miller family joined leaders from Zions Bank and Intermountain Health to launch the Gail Miller Utah Impact Fund, a first-of-its-kind initiative designed to fuel long-term opportunity and strengthen communities across the state of Utah. This fund represents a new way of thinking about community investment— blending philanthropic support with traditional capital to help bold, place-based projects succeed, even when they might not otherwise receive funding.
The fund was created in honor of Gail Miller’ s legacy of uplifting Utah communities and expanding opportunities for future generations. With a $ 25 million seed investment from our family foundation, including
$ 5 million dedicated to Salt Lake City’ s Ballpark Neighborhood initiatives, the fund is designed to attract and de-risk additional investment capital— potentially generating up to $ 250 million in combined impact funding.
This initiative will support a wide range of projects— from affordable housing and economic development to education, food security, and health equity— especially in rural and underserved communities. As Don Stirling, Executive Director of the Miller Family Foundation, shared,“ This fund is about helping communities realize their own potential. By combining philanthropic dollars with traditional investment capital— guided by local vision and leadership— we can cultivate thriving communities that endure for generations.”
