A New Stage for the Southwest Valley
THE COMMUNITY CELEBRATES A VIBRANT CULTURAL HUB WHERE THE ARTS AND LIFE TAKE PLACE
The future home of the Larry H. & Gail Miller Arts Center symbolically broke ground on March 19, 2026, with participants adding brushstrokes to a large paint-by-numbers canvas rather than turning shovels of dirt. The collaborative artwork reflected the spirit of the project itself: many hands coming together to create something meaningful for the community. The moment marked an exciting milestone for arts and culture in Utah’ s rapidly growing southwest valley. Located in the heart of Downtown Daybreak in South Jordan, the new regional destination will expand access to live performance, visual arts and community programming for residents across Salt Lake County.
The groundbreaking ceremony brought together civic leaders, community partners and local residents to celebrate a shared vision: ensuring high-quality arts experiences are accessible to all. The center is made possible through county funding and a $ 25 million donation from the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation, with operations to be led by Salt Lake County Arts & Culture.
“ This arts center will be a beautiful addition not only to the South Jordan community, but to the many individuals across this area of the valley who will come to enjoy a performance, participate in a class, or experience the arts in a new way,” said Gail Miller during the ceremony. She emphasized the importance of creating spaces where creativity can flourish and communities can gather.
Once completed, the approximately 89,000-square-foot facility will feature an 800-seat proscenium theater, flexible performance and rehearsal spaces, a visual art gallery and classrooms. Designed to serve audiences of all ages, the center will host performances, exhibitions and educational programming.
