July 18 – Bryce Miller announced that he had acquired TaylorMED MRI , an independent medical practice that offers affordable , same-day scans and next-day results without insurance or a doctor ’ s order .
July 24 – Salt Lake City was formally awarded the 2034 Winter Olympic Games following a vote by the International Olympic Committee . The Olympic Games were previously held in Salt Lake City in 2002 .
On August 31 , the Salt Lake Bees hosted the Savannah Banana ’ s - baseball ’ s version of the Harlem Globetrotters – played two sold-out games at Smith ’ s Ballpark .
August 8 – Aspen Ridge Residences of Lehi invited family and friends of their residents , along with members of the community to a special daylong event to celebrate its one-year anniversary .
August 17 – The YCC Family Crisis Center in Ogden , which aims to support individuals and families impacted by domestic and sexual violence , cut the ribbon on its new transitional housing complex . The Larry H . & Gail Miller Family Foundation donated $ 250,000 to the project .
August 19 – Steve Starks , CEO of the Larry H . Miller Company , joined Dave Fox on KUTV2 News to discuss the new Salt Lake Bees ballpark currently under construction in Daybreak .
August 28 – Daybreak in South Jordan , Utah , hosted the 2024 Dragon Boat Race to celebrate Chinese and Asian culture . A portion of the proceeds was donated to the Asian Association of Utah .
August 20 – Destination Homes unveiled 10 brand-new model homes in the Daybreak Model Home Village , offering an expanded range of home styles and price points for buyers . Additionally , their Concord model home took top honors in the 4,000- 6,000 SF category at the Parade of Homes , winning Best Interior , Best Craftsmanship , and Best Curb Appeal .
Destination Homes officially broke ground on the Northstar Ranch community in Grantsville , in partnership with Ivory Homes . This exciting new community offers expansive living spaces and a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern convenience . The official grand opening is anticipated for mid- November .
August 31 — Over 30,000 fans from across Utah gathered at Smith ’ s Ballpark for the Savannah Bananas baseball world tour . The Bananas play a unique game of baseball called “ Banana Ball ,” complete with dancing umpires and players , pre-game baby races , a pitcher on stilts and a banana mascot . The team played two games of “ Banana Ball ” against their archrival the Party Animals .
September 1 – Larry H . Miller Megaplex Theatres at the Junction was voted Best Movie Theater in Ogden in a community poll administered by the Standard- Examiner .

September 17 – A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for the new Davis Education Foundation Teen Center . This center , will be a safe space for teens to build relationships , develop skills and shape their future . The Larry H . & Gail Miller Family Foundation provided funding for the new center .
