A New Era for Education : Antelope Island Learning Center
On July 11 , 2024 , an exciting milestone was reached with the groundbreaking of the new Antelope Island Learning Center at Antelope Island State Park . This project , made possible by a $ 2.2 million donation from the Larry H . & Gail Miller Family Foundation , marks a significant investment in the future of environmental education in Utah . The new center will be an impressive 27,000-square-foot facility , vastly transforming the current 5,600-square-foot visitor center .
Key features of the expansion include modernized educational exhibits and a state-of-the-art , 200-seat largeformat theater that will immerse visitors in the natural beauty and history of the area in a documentary entitled “ Secrets of Great Salt Lake .” The center will place a strong emphasis on teaching about the Great Salt Lake ’ s vital ecosystem and the
importance of water conservation , addressing one of Utah ’ s most pressing environmental challenges .
With a projected completion date of July 2025 , this new learning hub is poised to become an integral element of Antelope Island State Park , enhancing the park ’ s capacity to engage with over half a million annual visitors .
Funding for the Antelope Island Learning Center from the Larry H . & Gail Miller Family Foundation will be routed through the Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation — one of the nation ’ s leading advocates for entrepreneurial thought in conservation .
