Embracing our privilege to care for the aged , the sick , the weak , and the vulnerable , noting that , “ We have high standards , we are protectors , and we make moments . We win and lose as teams , we do the right thing without shortcuts , working hard and solving problems . We live , ‘ To them that will , ways are not wanting .’”
During the conference , six leaders from within the skilled nursing facilities and home health and hospice business lines won awards for their outstanding performance in 2023 : Rachel Uffelman , director of nursing , AHC Scottsdale ; Marie Di Federico-Elliott , rehab manager , Las Vegas Facilities ; Ruben Matangi , administrator , AHC of Paradise ; Diane Datz , home health clinical director , HH & H of New Mexico ; Katie Heyder , hospice clinical director , HH & H of Reno ; Amber Whitehill , administrator , HH & H of Kansas City .
Additionally , two employees – Ryan Lewis , senior vice president of operations at CarePath Innovations , and JR Burt , administrator at AHC of Coeur d ’ Alene – received the inaugural “ Excellence in Leadership ” award for their years of service , dedication , and consistent effort to exceed expectations in all aspects of their work .
Chief Operating Officer Andy Frasure spoke at several points throughout the conference on the importance of operational excellence . Drawing from his own experience with a half-hearted attempt at riding a bull , Andy emphasized the importance of being “ all in ” on our efforts to lead : “ Exceptional effort leads to exceptional leadership . Exceptional leadership creates exceptional teams . And exceptional teams generate exceptional results . Our industries are in desperate need of exceptional outcomes ; we have to be all in for our patients , our teammates and our mission .”
The conference encouraged leaders to take the things they learned back to their respective businesses to continue to grow a culture of excellence . “ The opportunities in front of us are significant and the growing need for excellence in senior health is almost overwhelming ,” said Joe Walker . “ Our shared commitment to operate at the highest standards will continue to enrich the lives of our patients , our employees and their families .”

AHC sets the standard for care

Advanced Health Care , which operates innovative shortterm transitional rehabilitation facilities , home health care agencies and hospice services throughout the country , received a 4.7 average star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services ( CMS ) for its facilities . Other similarly-sized skilled nursing facilities received an average 2.63 star rating and the average for all companies is 2.77 stars . AHC ’ s collective 5-star ratings are evidence of excellence in survey outcomes , staffing , and quality measures .
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services ( CMS ) uses a five-star quality rating system to measure experiences with facilities . This system was created by the federal government to help consumers , their families and caregivers compare skilled nursing facilities objectively and meaningfully .
Andy Frasure , LHMSH COO , and Greg Miller , vice-chair of the LHMCO board of directors , discussed the Miller family ’ s mission and vision surrounding senior health .
