THE ROLE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN OUR WORKPLACES
By BJ Vander Linden
Artificial intelligence is no longer a futuristic concept— it’ s here and transforming how we work. Recognizing the potential AI holds for our businesses, we recently brought together technology and leadership teams from across the Larry H. Miller Company to explore how we can effectively integrate AI into our operations.
Our AI workshop, hosted in collaboration with industry experts from Gartner, was designed to encourage teams to think strategically about AI’ s role in solving specific business challenges. Before attending, the teams were asked to review real-world AI use cases, envision how AI could transform their respective platforms, and develop initial ideas to present to their peers. The discussion and brainstorming that followed generated ideas of additional ways AI can be leveraged to solve existing challenges in each of our workplaces.
We are already seeing promising AIdriven projects across our platforms. One example is Prestige Financial, which is exploring how AI can be used to generate personalized messages for customers, answer questions, and provide timely loan reminders. Other teams are looking at the potential of AI-powered tools to detect errors in data entry, automation in customer service workflows, scanning and analyzing large amounts of data looking for business insights, and even AIdriven training programs that act as a“ co-pilot” to accelerate employee learning.
AI has the potential to be both an accelerator and a disruptor in the workplace. Purpose-built AI tools, like perplexity. ai, have helped me process information more efficiently, shifting my focus from searching for content to searching for answers. AI can also streamline repetitive tasks, freeing employees to focus on highvalue work— something that can be framed through the lens of the Pareto Principle – the 80 / 20 rule: If 80 % of our time delivers only 20 % of our impact, AI can help us rebalance that equation, unlocking exponential value for our teams and businesses.
We are in the early stages of AI adoption, but by proactively engaging with this technology, we’ re positioning ourselves to lead rather than follow. The ideas generated during our workshop are just the beginning. As we continue exploring AI’ s role in our business, we will remain focused on using it to enhance productivity, improve effectiveness, drive innovation and ultimately help us achieve our mission of enriching lives more effectively.
