Th is will mark the 30th anniversary of the 1993 NBA All-Star Game played in Salt Lake City. “I couldn’t be more excited!” expressed Gail Miller. “It’s funny how a few words can make us so happy. It’s almost poetic that 30 years will have transpired between Utah’s last All-Star Game and the one in 2023.” “Big-time events in sports are part of the DNA of this state and part of this city,” NBA commissioner Adam Silver told the crowd assembled in the Vivint Smart Home Arena atrium. With that history—which includes the 2002 Olympic Winter Games—and the longevity of the Miller family as stewards of the franchise, the league has always been partial to bringing the All-Star game back to Utah. With the award-winning Vivint Arena renovations complete, the world-class destination caught the NBA’s notice as more than worthy to host an All-Star game once again. ◆ LHMWSM.com 9
