Making Movie and Racing History
Megaplex Celebrates 20th Anniversary
W
hat better way to celebrate the 20th
anniversary of the Larry H. Miller
Megaplex Theatres than with a movie about
the legendary race cars that are part of the Miller
family’s car collection? Gail Miller, members of the
Miller family, LHM management, and employees
were joined in the Megaplex celebration by
representatives from several Hollywood studios,
business and community leaders, as well as car
and movie fans.
Megaplex themed their anniversary
celebration around the release of Ford v Ferrari,
the compelling story of Carroll Shelby and Ken
Miles and the race car they built for the Ford
Motor Company to challenge the dynasty of Enzo
Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966. Two
of the vehicles represented in the film were on
display for the event.
“In my opinion, it’s one of the great moments
in American history, certainly in American
road racing history,” said Greg Miller. “And it’s a
privilege for us as a family to be the stewards of
these great vehicles; there’s really something magic
about it.”
Blake Anderson, Megaplex president, also
took the opportunity to recognize a small group
of employees who have been part of the Megaplex
family since the first of many theatres opened 20
years ago. To have employees contribute to the
organization for over two decades is amazing, “and
the contribution that they have made to Megaplex
Theaters and their footprint, their fingerprints, will
be seen in our complexes for many, many years to
come,” said Blake.
The first Megaplex Theatres location, Jordan
Commons, officially opened in November 1999
and has topped the national box office for the
opening of dozens of Hollywood blockbusters.
Megaplex now operates 16 locations with 182
screens in Utah and Nevada and has more than
1,500 full-time and part-time employees.
“This enterprise has covered half of the time
that we’ve been in business,” said Gail Miller. “The
impact we have is huge because we do things right.
We make an impact because we care about our
customers.” ◆

growing need for focus on diversity and
inclusion, and a need to do all this in a way
that demonstrates corporate responsibility and
environmental sensitivity.”
The luncheon also honored Steve Starks,
CEO of the LHM Group, who is the outgoing
