New Community Courts in Northern Utah
“ Utah Jazz Love Tremonton,” read the huge banner across the façade of
the picnic area at Meadow Park on June 5, 2018. About 50 Utah Jazz
employees plus the Jazz Dancers and Jazz Dunk Team traveled north
from Salt Lake City to visit Tremonton and its population of 8,500 for
the unveiling of a new Jazz community court, marking the northernmost
installation of a community court in Utah.
Almost a month later, on July 3, the welcome mat was rolled out once
more in Ogden as the 18th community court donated by the Jazz in Utah
was celebrated in typical Jazz fashion.
“We are Utah’s team, and the Jazz are excited to partner with these
communities on places that the public can enjoy and share our love for
the sport of basketball,” said Utah Jazz President Steve Starks.
The new outdoor courts feature multiple basketball goals with
adjustable heights, backboards, nets, rims, and striping in Jazz colors,
along with the Jazz logo at center court. Funding for the court was
provided by Larry H. Miller Charities in conjunction with Tremonton
City and Ogden City. ◆
Former Jazzman Chris Morris joined fans in Ogden.
