Mega Numbers in 2018
A
stack of movie tickets nearly seven miles high—that’s one way to
describe what 100 million Megaplex Theatres movie tickets looks like.
In December, Larry H. Miller Megaplex Theatres hosted a celebration
to mark the 100 Millionth Guest milestone across all 16 locations in Utah
and Nevada. More than 25 million guests have attended movies at Jordan
Commons since the Megaplex flagship location opened in November 1999.
The celebration at Jordan Commons included fond memories shared by
Gail Miller about how the four corner hallways at Jordan Commons are
named after classic Salt Lake movie theatres that she and Larry visited
during their dating years. Megaplex president Blake Andersen hosted the
celebration and was joined by Clark Whitworth, LHM CEO, and Steve
Starks, president of LHM Sports & Entertainment, to help recognize
several employees, including Peter Osuchowski, Cal Gundersen, Dick
Cornell, Dave Joos, and Paul Schultz for their years of service since the
very first days of operation for Megaplex Theatres.
Megaplex Theatres enjoyed a remarkable holiday season with top
national rankings in North America for several Hollywood blockbusters,
including Aquaman, Mary Poppins Returns, Bumblebee, Fantastic Beasts:
Crimes of Grindelwald, Ralph Breaks the Internet, Robin Hood, and several
other films. Megaplex Theatres at Jordan Commons also hosted a premiere
event for Oscar-winning actor and director Robert Redford’s latest film, Th e
Old Man and the Gun. Jordan Commons finished in the top 10 nationally
for that film, too.
The excitement continues in 2019 as Megaplex officially kicks off its 20th
Anniversary Celebration with more premium luxury seating, new Dolby
Atmos auditoriums, additional laser projection systems, and several highly
anticipated films. ◆

COLORADO
5 Days of Giving
LHM Dealerships in Colorado Surprise Local Charities
The holidays are all about giving back and
offering a helping hand to those who need it,
and every single LHM company is involved
with seasonal giving. LHM Dealerships in
Colorado, however, took it to a whole new level
back in December with their 5 Days of Giving
campaign. Over five days, the dealerships, in
partnership with a Denver TV station, had a
little fun by surprising five charities by giving
each a check for $10,000.
“By surprising the charities with donations,
employees had the opportunity to see a genuine,
emotional reaction from these organizations
that do so much good in the Colorado
community. It was a truly moving experience
for all involved,” said Sara Waldman, director of
communications, Larry H. Miller Dealerships.
As is the case with
most charitable
donations for the
LHM Group, the
charities selected were
focused on helping
women and children
with an emphasis on
health and education.
Several of the donations even went toward
ensuring that disadvantaged children had toys
and food for the holiday season.
“Many of these charities give throughout
the year, often with a lot of love but with limited
resources,” explained Ray Reilly, senior vice
president, Larry H. Miller Dealerships. “5
Days of Giving provided us with a unique
opportunity to share their stories and give
them a special gift so that their work to impact
the lives of people and to strengthen our
communities can continue.” ◆
