13 . Only clocks , computers , lamps , fans , and pen / pencil holders may be kept on top of student desks .
14 . Door hooks may be used only for towels , sweatshirts , coats ( not sport coats ), book bags , laundry bags , and hats . Book bags and laundry bags may never be on the floor , on top of a desk , or under beds . Laundry baskets are not permitted .
15 . Wastepaper containers must be emptied and wiped out regularly ; bags may not be used in place of a wastepaper container .
16 . Door name cards must be placed in the holder that identifies that student ’ s side of the room and may not be removed or defaced .
17 . When dorm rooms are unoccupied , doors must be open ( unless they are fire doors and do not remain open unassisted ) , windows closed or lowered to no more than 2 ” above the sill ( weather permitting ) and blinds lowered to be even with the bottom window sash .
18 . Power Plant students on shift or on outages are required to have their rooms in inspection order any time they leave their dorm during the academic day . When on shift , they must affix the Power Plant Shift Worker form to their dorm room door . Shift Worker forms may not be left on a student ’ s door when he is not serving a shift or on an outage .
19 . All students may use personal A / V devices / phones in the dorms ( but not on dorm porches ) during lunch and any time from after evening lineup until lights out .
20 . Prescription medications ( painkillers , antibiotics , etc .) must be registered with the Director of Health Services and kept locked up at all times . Students may never have a prescription medication in their possession that belongs to someone else .
21 . Any and all damage must be reported to the Dormitory Manager immediately ; repair costs may be assessed to the student ( s ) involved if the damage is determined to be intentional .
22 . When preparing rooms for breaks and final dismissal , the Director of Residence Life will issue specific instructions on dorm prep and requirements for personal items . Senior rooms must be completely empty before the beginning of Spring Cleanup .
Dormitory Vandalism { 7 / 17 / 17 }
If it is determined that vandalism has occurred in a dorm , students will be held accountable not only for their actions , but also for the financial cost of the repairs . Students may be charged contractor rates , regardless of who performs the repairs . Damage to common areas may be charged equally across all residents .
In clear cases of vandalism , Dormitory Managers may keep all residents from their dorm on campus over the weekend .
Shift Change Reports { 9 / 23 / 05 }
Power Plant Students are required to submit Shift Change Reports to the Administrative Assistant prior to the start of their shift . Students who submit Shift Change Reports after their shift will receive 4 points for lateness ; students who fail to submit Shift Change Reports within 48 hours after their shift will receive 8 points for neglect of duty .
Motor Vehicle Regulations { 6 / 20 / 19 }
In general , Freshmen may not have a vehicle on campus , but Juniors and Seniors may . Freshmen may only earn the privilege to have a vehicle on campus through the “ System of Rewards / Incentives .”
