special functions must report to the Dining Room in black or dark blue slacks , a white dress shirt , a belt , dress socks , and shined dress shoes .
Students on KP Duty must be dressed in clean work pants ( no sweatpants permitted ), clean T-shirt , and work boots ( dirty shop clothing is not permitted ). Students on KP Duty must follow the directions of the kitchen staff for the rest of the shift . KPs take all breaks in the Dining Room .
A quarterly KP schedule is electronically published in Blackbaud ( under the Calendar and Schedules icon ) and on the various dormitory and Rowan Hall monitors . Students are responsible for reviewing the schedule periodically for their assigned KP dates . If a student cannot fulfill their assigned KP duty , he must contact the Vice President for Student Affairs or the Provost to request a scheduling change . Serving Duty schedule change requests should be made to the Director of Food Services .
Duty rosters and additional instructions for the following details are posted on the Detail Bulletin Boards in the middle lower-level hallway of Rowan Hall on either side of the student bathroom .
Underclassmen Details ( Freshmen and Juniors ) Students who are assigned to Underclassmen Details must contact the Senior Supervisor ( as listed ) and review instructions and schedule for performing the detail . Duty days are listed on the Underclassmen Detail roster . The student is responsible to know his duties prior to starting his assignment . Underclassmen assigned to a Rowan Hall detail must also complete these details the day before the Academic week begins , primarily on Sundays . Students must continue to perform their details until a new list is posted . Incomplete work or neglect is unacceptable . Any student who has required study hall ( Academic Probation ) is still responsible for his assigned detail . An Underclassmen Detail is considered a single assignment ; therefore , not completing any part of the detail can yield a maximum of 8 points for neglect of duty .
Exemptions
• Underclassmen who participate in a Sport Activity are exempt while their activity is officially in season as indicated by the Athletic Director . Please note , student athletes are eligible for underclassmen details in the off season .
• Underclassmen who participate in any two Sport Activities are exempt for the year .
• Power Plant students , because of shift work , are also exempt from Underclassmen Detail assignments .
Flag Detail ( Juniors ) Juniors , at the direction of the Senior Supervisor , are responsible for the daily raising and lowering of the United States and Senior Class flags as well as their proper storage . The Flag Detail is to be in place and ready 5 minutes prior to Morning Lineup .
Doorman Detail ( Seniors ) Doorman Detail is assigned to two Seniors at a time ; one is stationed at the top of the stairwell leading into the Dining Room and the other at the bottom . The assigned Senior Doormen are to be in place for this detail 10 minutes before each meal and must maintain order in the Dining Room line and on the steps leading to the Dining Room . Specific instructions for Doorman Detail are posted with the detail roster in the lower level of Rowan Hall .
Underclassmen Detail Supervision ( Seniors ) Each Underclassmen Detail has a Senior Supervisor who is responsible for the completion of that detail . Supervising Seniors are responsible for understanding the requirements of the detail and explaining those requirements to the underclassmen assigned . They must ensure that the detail is completed , and when necessary , take an active role in its completion . All issues should be reported to the designated staff member .
