Executive Committee ( EXCOM ) – The EXCOM serves as the administrative vehicle managing the college ’ s strategic planning functions . The committee develops planning strategies , implementation timelines , and coordinates activities among working groups to ensure alignment with Strategic Goals and to strengthen linkages among , and appropriate revisions to the operational / tactical tasks and metrics associated with the plan . In managing plan implementation , the EXCOM works with various committees and working groups to track the plan ’ s implementation progress and develop solutions to potentially unforeseen issues .
Functional Working Groups – Aligned to a specific Strategic Goal , Objective , and / or Initiative , and comprised of cross-departmental faculty and staff , working groups oversee the development of Operational / Tactical Tasks and Metrics . Following the plan ’ s approval , the groups continue to work closely with the EXCOM during implementation to refine tasks and measures as strategic goals or environmental conditions continue to evolve .

Strategic Plan Timeline

March – May 2020 : The EXCOM developed and proposed a planning methodology , outlining key steps , actions , and a project timeline . The planning methodology was submitted to the Board Strategic Planning Committee for review and recommendation . The methodology was subsequently submitted to and approved by the full Board of Trustees during its May 2020 meeting .
June – August 2020 : Meeting throughout the summer , the Board Strategic Planning Committee conducted a comprehensive Strengths , Weaknesses , Opportunities , and Threats ( SWOT ) analysis . Based on the SWOT analysis , the committee drafted preliminary Strategic Goals and then reviewed the college ’ s Mission , Vision , and Core Values . Next , given the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic , the committee released an electronic survey to community stakeholders ( faculty , staff , alumni , and students ), receiving input and recommendations on the SWOT analysis , a proposed revision of the college ’ s Mission and Vision statements , and the developed draft of the Strategic Goals . Finally , the committee reviewed the survey responses , which aligned very closely with the originally developed goals and SWOT analysis and made slight modifications to the draft goals prior to submission to the full Board of Trustees for review .
September – December 2020 : With the draft Strategic Goals and Initiatives reviewed by the full Board in September , the EXCOM worked with the Executive Officers to create Functional Working Groups that would
