MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT BOARD OF ENGINEERS MALAYSIA
BEM has registered around 22,000 Professional Engineers and 10,670 Professional Engineers with Practising Certificate since its formation in 1972 .
Becoming a Professional Engineer ( PEng ) is every engineering graduate ’ s aspiration for his professional career path . The recognition as a Professional Engineer will set the stage for him or her to embark into emerging innovation and achievement .
The journey for any PEng to attain the level as a proficient and successful engineer is a long one with hard work , inquisitive mind and willingness to venture into difficult engineering challenges . Not all will achieve that level of engineering excellence . For the achievers , their engineering expertise and experience should be fully tapped into the engineering service industry .
It is towards this end that Who ’ s Who in Engineering , Malaysia is intended , to provide a database of such a group of engineers . The listing for each PEng provides their academic qualifications , professional affiliations , posts held in the organisations they have served , their area of expertise ( listing projects in which they have been involved ) and any professional awards they have gained . In essence , it provides a brief curriculum vitae of the PEng .
Such information will serve as a reference so that they can be chosen to contribute more effectively in their ventures to spearhead the technological advancement of the country . There are vast opportunities for our engineers to lead corporate agencies in the public and private sectors .
This is the first time such a book has been published , to serve the industry and the public with information pertaining to the expertise and experience of PEng with whom they wish to connect . It is also a recognition of the PEng for their contributions and achievements in nation building .
As the nation ’ s engineering service moves beyond our shores , this book can serve as a resource material for foreign companies eager to tap into our engineering talents for overseas projects .
Lastly , I wish all engineering talents captured in this book a successful engineering career in the years ahead .
