Course Name: Honors French IV Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 11th and 12th grade
Prerequisites: H. French III( 85 %+)
Description: This course is designed to increase oral and written fluency and to provide intensive study of the culture, geography, and history of the French-speaking world. French is only spoken in this course, and many activities include watching shorts films from various French speaking countries, reading authentic articles and poems, have debates and philosophical discussions, reading novels, listening to music, playing French games, and watching full length French films. Students earn an additional 1.0 quality point towards their GPA for this course.

Course Name: Latin I Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 9th- 12th grade

Description: This is an introductory course is designed for students with little to no prior experience in Latin, offering a comprehensive foundation in both language and culture. Latin is not just a language; it ' s a key to unlocking the rich history, literature, and influence of the Roman civilization. By the end of Latin I, students will have a strong foundation in the Latin language, enabling them to read and understand simple Latin texts and appreciate the cultural and historical context in which Latin was used. This course serves as a stepping-stone for further exploration of the classical world and sets the stage for continued studies in Latin II and beyond.

Description: This course is designed for students with a keen interest in Latin, offering a more rigorous and in-depth study of the language, literature, and historical context. This course not only provides a solid foundation in Latin but also encourages critical thinking, analytical skills, and a deeper understanding of the classical world. This course is designed to prepare students for other Honors and AP Latin courses and challenges students to reach a higher level of proficiency in Latin, encouraging intellectual curiosity and a passion for the classical world. This course serves as an excellent preparation for future studies in Latin literature, advanced language courses, and beyond. Students earn an additional 0.5 quality point towards their GPA for this course.
