Course Name: Band( Intermediate, Mastery, and Advanced)** Type of Course: Elective Course
Available to: 9th- 12th grade
Prerequisites: None for Lower Intermediate Level( never played before) & auditions for all other levels
Description: Band is a large musical group with musicians playing instruments from two main families: wind( woodwinds and brass) and percussion, performing together. These courses may include analysis, historical and cultural influences, improvisation, and appreciation of music. These courses organize objectives for selfpaced progress and stress individual progress and group experiences.
Course Name: Chorus( Treble and Tenor / Bass)** Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 9th- 12th grade
Prerequisites: Audition
Description: These courses provide opportunities to develop performance skills and knowledge in choral singing. These courses cover performance and production, analysis and theoretical studies, historical and cultural contributions and influences, creative aspects of music, and appreciation of music. These courses organize objectives for self-paced progress and stress individual progress and group experiences.
Course Name: Orchestra( Beginning, Intermediate, Mastery, and Advanced)** Type of Course: Elective Course
Available to: 9th- 12th grade
Prerequisites: None for Beginning Level( never played before) and Intermediate Levels & auditions for all other levels
Description: Orchestra is a large musical group with musicians playing stringed instruments, ranging from violins to cellos, performing together. These courses emphasize performance and production, analysis and theoretical studies, historical and cultural contributions and influences, creative aspects of music and appreciation of music. These courses organize objectives for self-paced progress and stress individual progress and ensemble experiences.
** Students who enroll in these courses must use TWO ELECTIVES spots on their registration worksheet.
Course Name: Beginning Guitar Techniques I Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 9th- 11th grade
Prerequisites: None
Description: This course is designed to be a beginning guitar course in which students perform, respond, create, and connect to music through the guitar.
