Course Name: Survey of Engineering Graphics Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 10th- 12th grade
Prerequisites: Introduction to Drafting and Design( 70 %+)
Description: This course is the second course in the Engineering Drafting and Design Career Pathway. The course builds on foundational drafting knowledge and introduces students to advanced engineering graphics concepts, including orthographic projection, section and auxiliary views, and the fundamentals of 3D parametric modeling. Students apply mathematical analysis, spatial reasoning, and design documentation in both manual and computer-aided environments. Through iterative design, hands-on prototyping, and digital simulations, students refine their skills in precision communication, measurement, and modeling. The course supports career readiness by integrating industry standards, emerging technologies, and design portfolios aligned with engineering and manufacturing career pathways.
Course Name: 3D Modeling and Analysis Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 11th and 12th grade
Prerequisites: Survey of Engineering Graphics( 70 %+)
Description: This is the third course in the Engineering Drafting and Design Pathway. This course is focused on preparing students for postsecondary success and careers in advanced manufacturing, product design, and engineering. Building on foundational and intermediate drafting courses, students apply mathematical reasoning, scientific principles, and modern digital tools to create parametric models, analyze performance, simulate physical behaviors, and optimize designs. The course introduces students to real-world workflows, including finite element analysis( FEA), prototyping, and team-based design challenges. Emphasis is placed on engineering standards, sustainability, and innovation. Students will complete a capstone project aligned to industry standards and may pursue recognized certifications( e. g., Autodesk Certified User, CSWA). Integration of AI-driven tools and emerging technologies provides learners with future-ready skills. Students who successfully complete this should be prepared to take an End of Pathway Assessment( EOPA) to be able to earn an industry-recognized credential.
Course Name: Technical Manufacturing Concepts and Drawings Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 11th and 12th grade
Prerequisites: 3D Modeling and Analysis( 90 %+) and teacher approval
Description: This course goes beyond the Engineering Drafting and Design pathway as a fourth additional course. This course is for students who are interested in the development of drawings and patterns for various types of manufacturing processes. Students develop skills in such areas of study as manufacturing processes, threads and fasteners, welding, working drawings, fluid drawings, and electricity / electronics. Students who wish to take this course must be self-starters and have good time management skills as this is an independent study course. Students who complete this course should be prepared to take the Drafter Certification Examination from the American Design Drafting Association( ADDA) and qualify for advanced placement in the drafting and design programs offered by Georgia’ s technical colleges.
