Course Name: Engineering Applications Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 11th and 12th grade
Prerequisites: Engineering Concepts( 70 %+)
Description: This is the third course in the Engineering and Technology Pathway. Students will apply their knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math( STEM) to develop solutions to technological problems. Solutions will be developed using a combination of engineering software and prototype production processes. Students will use market research, cost benefit analysis, and an understanding of the design cycle to create and present design, marketing, and business plans for their solutions. A capstone project will allow students to demonstrate their depth of knowledge of the engineering design process and prepare them for future opportunities in the field of engineering. Students who successfully complete this should be prepared to take an End of Pathway Assessment( EOPA) to be able to earn an industry-recognized credential.
Course Name: Research, Design, and Project Management Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 11th- 12th grade
Prerequisites: Engineering Applications( 70 %+) AND teacher approval
Description: This course goes beyond the Engineering and Technology Pathway as a fourth additional course. This course provides students with opportunities to work with students from other pathways as a member of a design team. Research strategies, prototype testing and evaluation, and communication skills are emphasized. Students who wish to take this course must be self-starters and have good time management skills as this is an independent study course.
Pathway: Engineering Drafting and Design 1st Level- Introduction to Drafting and Design 2nd Level- Survey of Engineering Graphics 3rd Level- 3D Modeling and Analysis
Course Name: Introduction to Drafting and Design Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 9th- 11th grade
Prerequisites: Algebra( 74 %+)
Description: This course is the foundational course for the Engineering Drafting and Design Pathway. Students will develop skills in safety, measurement, geometric construction, sketching, technical drawing, and computer-aided design( CAD) while applying the engineering design process and industry standards. These skills form the basis for a wide range of careers in engineering, architecture, manufacturing, construction, and other technical fields. By mastering foundational design and visualization techniques, students gain essential competencies valued across many industries, preparing them for advanced coursework and diverse career opportunities.
