Course Name: Honors American Government Type of Course: Core Course
Available to: 12th grade
Prerequisites: US History( 90 %+), H. US History( 74 %- 89 %), OR AP US History( 70 %- 79 %)
Description: This is an accelerated college prep course that covers all the standards included in the on-level American Government but explores the concepts at a deeper level with critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and extensive reading and writing used extensively for this level. This course will be completed in 9 weeks( 1 / 2 a semester) and is paired with Honors Economics / Personal Financial Literacy for the other 9 weeks of the semester. Students will earn 0.5 credits for this course. Students earn an additional 0.5 quality point towards their GPA for this course.
Course Name: AP Microeconomics Type of Course: Core Course Available to: 12th grade
Prerequisites: H. US History( 90 %+) OR AP US History( 80 %+)
Description: This course is an introductory college-level microeconomics course. Students cultivate their understanding of the principles that apply to the functions of individual economic decision-makers by using principles and models to describe economic situations and predict and explain outcomes with graphs, charts, and data as they explore concepts like scarcity and markets; costs, benefits, and marginal analysis; production choices and behavior; and market inefficiency and public policy. This course will be taken as a full semester, and the course will involve extensive readings, independent study, and frequent written / graphical analysis to prepare students for the AP Microeconomics Exam. This course will be completed in one semester and is paired with AP United States Government and Politics during the same or other semester. Students will earn a 1.0 credit for this course. Students earn an additional 1.0 quality point towards their GPA for this course.

Description: This course is an introductory college-level course in U. S. government and politics. Students cultivate their understanding of U. S. government and politics through analysis of data and text-based sources as they explore topics like constitutionalism, liberty and order, civic participation in a representative democracy, competing policy-making interests, and methods of political analysis. This course will be taken as a full semester, and the course will involve extensive readings, independent study, and frequent written / document analysis to prepare students for the AP US Government and Politics Exam. This course will be completed in one semester and is paired with AP Microeconomics during the same or other semester. Students will earn a 1.0 credit for this course.
