Course Name : Dual Enrollment POLS 1101 : American Government Type of Course : Core Course
Available to : 12th grade
Prerequisites : Acceptance into Chattahoochee Technical College Dual Enrollment program
Description : This course emphasizes study of government and politics in the United States . The focus of the course will provide an overview of the Constitutional foundations of the American political processes with a focus on government institutions and political procedures . The course will examine the constitutional framework , federalism , civil liberties and civil rights , public opinion , the media , special interest groups , political parties , and the election process along with the three branches of government . In addition , this course will examine the processes of Georgia state government . Topics include foundations of government , political behavior , and governing institutions . This is a Dual Enrollment class through Chattahoochee Technical College that is taught on Wheeler ' s campus concurrently with ECON 1101 : Principles of Economics . Students will earn a 1.0 credit for this course .

Description : This course is designed to give a general overview of the principles and concepts of psychology , including learning theory , perception , intellectual , and social development , abnormal behavior , and interpersonal relationships . The purpose of this course is to provide students with a better understanding of the dynamics that shape our own behaviors as well as the behaviors of others .

Available to : 11th and 12th grade
Prerequisites : 95 %+ in H . World History or H . US History OR 85 %+ in AP World History or AP US History
Description : This course is an interdisciplinary course that examines the diversity of African American experiences through direct encounters with rich and varied sources . Students explore key topics that extend from early African kingdoms to the ongoing challenges and achievements of the contemporary moment . The course will involve extensive readings , independent study , frequent written / document analysis , and submission of an individual project to College Board to prepare students for the AP African American / Black Studies Exam . Students earn an additional 1.0 quality point towards their GPA for this course .
