Prerequisites : World History ( 95 %+), H . World History ( 80 % - 94 %), OR AP World History ( 70 % - 84 %)
Description : This is an accelerated college prep course that covers all the standards included in the onlevel United States History course ( description on page 47 ) but explores the concepts at a deeper level with critical thinking , problem-solving skills , and extensive reading and writing used extensively for this level . Students will be prepared to an End-of-Course Exam . Students earn an additional 0.5 quality point towards their GPA for this course .
Course Name : AP United States History Type of Course : Core Course Available to : 11th grade
Prerequisites : H . World History ( 95 %+) OR AP World History ( 85 %+)
Description : The course is considered an introductory college-level U . S . history course . Students cultivate their understanding of U . S . history from c . 1491 CE to the present through analyzing historical sources and learning to make connections and craft historical arguments as they explore concepts like American and national identity ; work , exchange , and technology ; geography and the environment ; migration and settlement ; politics and power ; America in the world ; American and regional culture ; and social structures . ​The course will involve extensive readings , independent study , and frequent written / document analysis to prepare students for the AP US History Exam . Students earn an additional 1.0 quality point towards their GPA for this course .
Course Name : Economics / Personal Financial Literacy Type of Course : Core Course
Available to : 12th grade
Prerequisites : US History ( 70 % - 94 %) OR H . US History ( 70 % - 79 %)
Description : This course is designed to explain fundamentals of economic decision-making , microeconomics , macroeconomics , and international economics as well as personal finance skills students can apply to their own futures – including managing and balancing budgets ; understanding and building credit ; protecting against identity theft and consumer protections ; and understanding tax forms , student loan applications , and pay stubs . Focus areas include opportunity costs and scarcity , supply / demand analysis , competitive markets , macroeconomics measurement , business cycles , inflation , unemployment , monetary / fiscal policies , & international trade . This course will be completed in 9 weeks ( 1 / 2 a semester ) and is paired with American Government for the other 9 weeks of the semester . Students will earn 0.5 credits for this course .
