Chelsea F.C. do not have many large sponsors around the globe. Whilst their sponsors are numerous, these are small time deals with companies based in rural areas of the globe. With only two major sponsorships, not even being top of their divisions/sales, chelsea do not do well in this section. They need to introduce their global presence (4th in the world) as an opportunity to gain more business deals. With such a large fanbase, it is extremely suprising that they lack the sponsors to generate more money.
Chelsea stadium, much like Manchester United's Old Trafford, remains in the hands of Chelsea Football club. Not willing to sell their right to rename their stadium like Arsenal and Manchester City, Chelsea had stood firm on keeping their stadiums name as Stamford Bridge. Whilst selling their name to the stadium may help their financial cause, Chelsea have no reason to. With a devoted owner, money from sponsors seem irrelevant to Chelsea.
The two major sponsors of Chelsea F.C. are Samsung and Adidas. Known as the Premium sponsors on their website, this exclusive sponsorship has gained these companies much recognition. However, other than these two major companies, Chelsea sponsors lack the size. Having many small sponsorships with companies like Orico, Chelsea cannot gain much money from them due to their financial position. Since these sponsorships are so small, Chelsea have to remain heavily reliant on Roman Abromovich.
