What makes a good football team? Dec. 2013 | Page 39

I have noticed that whilst chelsea have spent a lot of money on players, their capability to offload unwanted players for decent prices has been a positive. Players like robben were unwanted at chelsea, but moved for high prices. It is clear that chelsea's financial muscles are not limited, paying large amounts of money for players (Fernando torres £50 million). They have shown that they are more than capable of bringing out money to rival other teams for the players needed. This type of attitude/mentality is a very good skill to have and will work to chelsea's advantage.

Fernando Torres, a Spanish striker, is the record British transfer. Bought for a grand total of £50 million from Liverpool, he is one of the biggest transfers of all time. Despite his large price tag, he has failed to live up to expectations. Failing to fill Chelsea's vacant striker position, he is one of Chelsea's worst buys. Despite this, when he is on his good game, he can be very deadly. This inconsistent form is a big frustration to many Chelsea fans around the world.
