Fun run
One of the highlights on the fundraising calendar this year was the Fun Run which was held at the SANDF Wynberg Military Base. It was wonderful to see all the moms and dads running around with their headlights as they tried to set up the different stands. Not long after the sun rose, the inflatable start / finish sign went up and the rides and games followed. We had over 1500 people join us for this fun-filled day. The younger participants enjoyed a 2.5km route while others ran the 5km route. There were plenty of yummy snacks to fill the tummies of each and every person who shared the day with us, not to mention all the wonderful entertainment.
Swimafun
This year we launched our SWIMAFUN in February and ran it until the end of March. We requested that each learner collect donations during the six week period. There was a lucky draw every two weeks where any learner who had returned her donations could stand a chance of winning some exciting prizes. Those who had returned their donations by the allocated date also received an ice-cream. We ended our SWIMAFUN in a slightly different way from previous years due to the water restrictions. This year we enjoyed a day outdoors playing different games and then of course we had time with friends in the pool. It was wonderful to see all the different outfits on“ Hawaii” Day.
