Reading
Partners
The Reading Partner Programme has been particularly successful this year with many Grade 2 and 3 learners making incredible progress and developing a greater love for reading. The Grade 7 girls involved in the programme have approached the task seriously and their willingness has benefitted our Foundation Phase learners well.
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading with my partner, Kathryn Nelson. At first I got frustrated with all the mistakes, but teaching her to read fluently has taught me to be patient. She has improved her reading tremendously over the past few terms and I am excited to see what she will do in the future.

My reading partner is Gemma, at the beginning Gemma struggled pronouncing many words and now I am quite proud to say that she can read fluently and pronounce words with more ease. This incredible experience taught me how to be patient and understand how to explain things in a simpler way. I really enjoyed this wonderful learning experience.

Having a reading partner has taught me to be patient and have a sense of understanding. When we started Amy didn’ t understand the concepts of full stops and commas but now not only has she improved on that, but also is one of the best Grade 2 readers. Reading partners is so much fun and I wouldn’ t think of doing anything else on a Tuesday morning than helping to improve reading.
