y e k c o H The WGJS hockey season commenced with seven of our hockey coaches attending a SAHA Level 0 and Level 1 Hockey Coaching Course. It is extremely important that our coaches educate themselves on foundations and the basics of hockey so that they can impart their knowledge to the players. Participation and inclusivity have been our number one focus this year and we have achieved an unprecedented depth in hockey through all of the age groups. When the whistle blows, WGJS Hockey players and coaches are all ready to take to the field. Our girls are equipped with basic skills and knowledge of the game and they understand that having fun is the most important part of playing this truly amazing game. Every week we see our Wynberg Girls, supported by their parent’s positive cheers of encouragement, take to the astro ready to showcase what they have learnt in the year. Our Grade 1 classes are exposed to multiple sporting codes with hockey being one of them. Every week we see improvement and especially in term three there has been a marked grasping of the basic hockey concepts. Our young Grade 2s and 3s have shown remarkable improvement throughout the year as they are continuously developing and working on the skills needed for hockey. In this fun and safe to fail environment we work on different elements relating not only to hockey but most sports and movement. 9 Back (L – R): Kayleigh Milne, Amelia Coetzee, Olivia El Chamaa, Rowyn Sherry, Ayesha Sasman, Hana Samodien, Naledi Molebatsi, Jo Kerchhoff, Colbi Scott, Tatum Meier Middle: Mrs Colleen Reed, Megan Masina, Farah Lee Shue Ling, Kyra Hansen, Mikayla de Jager, Safiyyah Andrews, Isabella Grebe, Olivia Rudd, Catherine Donnelly, Haania Nordien, Stacey Nduru, Ms Kathleen Bischof Front: Alice Donnelly, Jesse Hendricks, Haniin Allie, Zahra’ Mohamed, Ms Lauren Furter, Emma Jacobs, Ms Cara Geere, Rhoda Japie, Raeesah Laws, Amy Grass, Kayla van Ryneveld 62
