League matches started mid-April and our girls have really competed in true Wynberg fashion this year. Always looking neat, always very polite and always showing an incredible amount of enthusiasm, despite the unpredictable weather we have had through the season, our players have improved remarkably in their basics. We have strived this season to allow three teams in each age group in order to afford more players the opportunity to play hockey and to enjoy some time on the turf with their fellow Wynberg friends. We even have four teams in some age groups this year! We participated in many hockey festivals throughout the season and this gave our girls the added bonus of being able to play more hockey with their friends! The U13’s hockey season has been a tough one, but through hard work and a mental shift from results driven to process-driven our u13A’s made Top Schools by finishing 2nd in the school league. The 2018 hockey season has been challenging, busy and extremely successful. Continuously teaching our young players to believe in the process and to build trust amongst one another has been a focal point and we can see it at every training session and on match day. All hockey coaching staff who have taken the time to continue growing the Wynberg brand must be commended for their hard work.
