l a v i t s e F s l r i G l l A The year started with a bang as preparations for the All Girls Festival, which was held in Port Elizabeth, commenced. There was much to organise, including thirty-four young and very excited ladies and nine staff members. A festival style event is always encouraging as the players are not too focussed on results and are able to enjoy meeting new friends and bonding together as a team. The weather at the Festival was fantastic and flying into Port Elizabeth was a real treat for our girls, some of whom experienced their first flight ever! We were very proud to take our first ever All Girls Tennis team with us. The experience they gained from playing at the Festival was immense and by the end of the Festival, we were seeing some top tennis! Our netball, hockey and water-polo teams fared extremely well and the weekend was an excellent start to the winter sports season while being a fitting conclusion to summer sports. With multiple codes at the festival, we were able to support our Wynberg Family in all of their sports. Highlights of the festival included playing on the awesome outdoor equipment at Collegiate, which we hope to see soon on the WGJS fields, seeing Miss Bischoff doing a handstand, our hockey and water-polo coaches exchanging roles and enjoying the challenge of coaching each other’s sports, and plenty of laughter! Our girls were extremely well behaved and we left Port Elizabeth with a great sense of pride in our Wynberg girls. The brand of sport played by WGJS – the passing brand – ensured fabulous teamwork and excellent results. Roll on All Girls Festival 2019! Mrs Colleen Reed 61
