Brewer Appointed Interim Dean of West Virginia University College of Law
Steptoe & Johnson PLLC attorney and former CEO Susan Brewer has been appointed to serve as interim dean of the West Virginia University( WVU) College of Law.
Brewer will serve a one-year term which aligns with the arrival of WVU’ s incoming 27th President, Michael T. Benson. The new administration has selected a search committee that has started the process to hire a permanent dean for the College of Law.
“ I look forward to the challenge and the opportunity to help WVU as best I can,” says Brewer.“ I am honored to be able to lead the College of Law during the university’ s transition to a new dean.”
Brewer made history as the first female CEO of a major West Virginia-based law firm and executed strategic firm growth, opening six offices in Colorado, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Texas.
Brewer has spent the entirety of her legal career at Steptoe & Johnson and has litigated more than 100 jury and nonjury cases in state, federal and appellate courts. She received her law degree from George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School and her artium baccalaureus from Duke University.

Previously, Sheehy was senior vice president of product innovation for EmblemHealth, global head of health for American International Group and chief underwriting officer and head of health care reform for Aetna.
