West Virginia International Yeager Airport Advances Terminal Improvements
The Central West Virginia Regional Airport Authority has released plans for the next major component of the CRW Next Terminal Development Project. This $ 8 million investment will focus on renovating and modernizing the presecurity areas of the terminal at West Virginia International Yeager Airport( CRW).
This federally funded project is made possible through the Federal Aviation Administration Airport Terminals Program Grant and is aimed at enhancing the passenger experience from the moment travelers enter the terminal.
Renovations will include the ticket lobby, the ramp area near the secure area exit, baggage claim and all public circulation spaces in between. Planned upgrades feature replacement of ticket counters, installation of digital display signage, new flooring, refreshed finishes and updated lighting throughout the main lobby.
The current anticipated construction duration is 180 working days, with a projected start date in early October.
“ This project is a key milestone in our long-term terminal modernization efforts,” says Dominique Ranieri, CEO and airport director for CRW.“ It reflects our commitment to improving the passenger experience, supporting future growth and making CRW a more welcoming and efficient gateway for travelers.”
The Pre-Security Renovations Project adds to the $ 12 million in active capital improvements currently underway. Ongoing projects include lobby restroom upgrades, installation of a second baggage belt, expansion of the general aviation apron and site preparation for a future maintenance facility relocation.
CRW Next is focused on prioritizing both infrastructure and customer service enhancements to position the airport and the state as a top-tier travel destination. As the airport
continues to grow, the CRW Next initiative represents a strategic investment in the future of air travel in West Virginia, improving functionality, accessibility and the overall experience for the flying public.
New LPN to BSN Pathway Launches at WVWC
Creating another avenue for working professionals to earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing, West Virginia Wesleyan College( WVWC) School of Nursing has launched a new licensed practical nurse( LPN) to Bachelor of Nursing( BSN) pathway that will see students earn their degree through hybrid online courses and weekend clinical rotations.
The program recently received final approval from the West Virginia Board of Nursing and is ready to begin accepting its first cohort of up to 24 students, which begins August 2025.
“ WVWC School of Nursing is excited to bring this pathway to BSN to our local community,” says Director of the WVWC School of Nursing Kimberly White, Ph. D., MSN, RN.“ This is a vital step toward strengthening our local health care system. It provides LPNs with a flexible and accessible pathway to advance their education and become registered nurses with a BSN.”
White says this not only helps address the growing nursing shortage but also improves the quality of care patients receive by equipping nurses with enhanced clinical skills and leadership training.
The hybrid format, which combines online coursework with in-person clinical experiences, makes it easier for working professionals to continue their education without sacrificing their current employment. By investing in the development of local talent, the program also supports economic growth and ensures that health care providers better reflect and understand the unique needs of the community they serve.
Students will begin the program at WVWC, taking classes online but having one weekend a month on campus for testing, skills and simulation labs. They will then move to Battlers Knob in Phillipi for their one-weekend per month on campus and will have one to two weekends of clinical
