Hope is investing in energy infrastructure across the state . Its Pipeline Replacement and Expansion Program ( PREP ) is a 24-year initiative to replace and upgrade aging bare steel , cast iron , wrought iron and copper pipeline infrastructure with coated steel or plastic pipe . PREP is responsible for the continued and enhanced safety of Hope ’ s natural gas distribution system . It may also be used to extend natural gas service to unserved areas of the state .
