THE RHÔNE RIVERBANKS
In summer or winter, residents of Lyon and tourists like to use the riverbanks to
go walking, observe nature and relax. In the center of the city, the Rhône
riverbanks offer 5 kms dedicated to urban activity between the Raymond
Poincaré bridge (near Villeurbanne – Lyon 6 th district) and the Gerland Park
(Lyon 7 th district).
By bicycle, on foot or on roller skates, the left riverbank of the Rhône river has
been converted by the greater Lyon municipality and offers several recreational
and relaxing areas : football fields, playgrounds, deck chairs, slides, etc.
All along the pathway, two parallel routes have been designated: the first one
is dedicated to walking and wheelchairs, the second one is for bicycles, roller
skates and scooters. The Rhône riverbanks invite people to take a breather,
meet with other people and relax:
Just 5kms from the city center to nature!
A bicycle path along the Rhône leads to the Miribel Jonage Park ( in light green
at the top right corner of the map ) where several nature-oriented watersports
and land-based activities are available throughout the year.
