THE OLD CITY & ITS TRABOULES 1. - 3 place St Paul : Angular and sloping traboule comprising at least seven levels; unrefurbished ancient and modest entryway; vaulted exit; staircase at the center of the traboule; exit side façade is from the 15th Century with windows ornamented with small columns. 2 - 4-6 rue Juiverie : Closed to the public;, entrance side façade is from the 16th Century and is restored 3 - 7 quai Romain-Rolland : Building dating from the 15th Century; two courtyards, one with tower and arcaded gallery and old well; exit side façade from the 15th Century with compartment windows adorned with small ornate columns 4 - 10 quai Romain-Rolland : Elevated courtyard above old stables; exit side features a small loge with narrow windows decorated with sirens and gargoyles 5 - 11-12 quai Romain-Rolland : Renaissance façade; this traboule connects with 13 quai Romain-Rolland. 6 - 17 quai Romain-Rolland : Large doorway with the carved head of a woman at the top of the arch; two courtyards 7 - 18 quai Romain -Rolland : Modest façade with a simple courtyard. 8 - 20 quai Romain-Rolland : Door dating from the last Century; restored courtyard 9 - 6 rue des Trois-Maries : Ocher façade; two restored connecting pink courtyards with Italian galleries; highly ornamented exited door with a Renaissance style façade. 10 - 24 rue St Jean : Façade dating from the 18th Century, grand courtyard with an angular tower rising four stories and ending in a very beautiful sculptured doorway 11 - 54 rue St Jean : Long traboule featuring six small courtyards. 12 - 10-14 rue de la Bombarde : Signs indicate « bombardment by fire » and « the artisans of the world », one entrance by Number 14; another narrow entrance in the shape of a bomb beside Number 10; passage with two courtyards connected by a stairway. 13 - 68 rue St Jean : Simple traboule but heavily trafficked. A cabinetmaker and an architect have their offices in this passageway. 11
