The Forsyth-Monroe County Chamber of Commerce is located inside the Welcome Center.
The Forsyth-Monroe County Chamber of Commerce takes very seriously its mission to enhance the business environment of Monroe County. This can be summed up as a commitment to increased visitation / tourism, thoughtful increases in newcomer relocation, and planned expansion of Forsyth and Monroe County’ s business base.
The fact that the consolidated chamber can direct and maximize chamber, tourism, and economic development initiatives to the benefit of members increases the chamber’ s ability to attract thousands of visitors, hundreds of families or retirees, and a host of companies who could potentially add to the already strong business base.
As part of the chamber’ s consolidated efforts, the chamber in 2008 moved into the Welcome Center, the newly renovated former Forsyth City Hall, sharing the space with Forsyth Better Hometown, the Development Authority of Monroe County, the Forsyth Downtown Development Authority, and the Forsyth-Monroe County Convention & Visitors’ Bureau. This repurposed facility not only restores and updates Forsyth’ s original 1897 City Hall, but also brings under one roof all of the agencies charged with marketing Forsyth and Monroe County.
The chamber is committed to working with its collaborative agencies in opening new markets and to accenting existing ones for the benefit of member businesses. The success of the Chamber of Commerce can be attributed to its dedicated employees and board of directors who spend countless hours behind the scenes helping to build the local economy, improve
the quality of life for visitors and residents, and especially to provide vital services to chamber members.
