AGerman compressor company cut the ribbon to open its new distribution center in Forsyth in 2012. Officials with the company ALMIG opened their new facility off Hwy. 41 near the Chriswood subdivision in March. ALMIG sells industrial compressors to companies around the world, and Forsyth will be its second location in the U. S. ALMIG already has a small distribution center in Green Bay, Wis. as well. However unlike the Green Bay location, the Forsyth one is not only a distribution center but also an assembly line where they can service compressors.
ALMIG officials said one of the reasons they chose Forsyth was that one of their distributors, Simple Air Solutions, is located here.
Fred Simpson, owner of Simple Air Solutions, said he’ s excited to have ALMIG in Forsyth so that if his customers

need a compressor he can get one quickly.
Company officials said they already have lots of competitors in the Atlanta area so being in Forsyth gives them a unique angle, including quicker access to the port in Savannah.
ALMIG has a five-year lease of the facility from local builder John Pitts, and the company has done some major renovations to the warehouse, adding office space with HVAC and amenities. AL- MIG will have 2-3 employees on site and has already hired Pam Ortiz of Forsyth to handle front-end operations.
ALMIG has been operating in Germany since 1923 and has headquarters in a small town much like Forsyth located near Stuttgart. Company officials say they pride themselves in high-quality and well-made compressors, noting they export 72 percent of their products. The company has about 350 employees world-wide.
