Better Hometown’ s Friday Farmer’ s Markets give locals a chance to buy and sell fresh Middle Georgia produce.
The Farmers Market is held every Friday from May through October behind Farmers Bank in downtown Forsyth at the corner of North Jackson Street and West Morse Street. The Farmers Market occurs from 12 noon-6 p. m. on Fridays and features a wide variety of vendors selling produce, plants, baked goods, homemade baskets and agriculture by-products such as honey and goats milk soap.
• Design focuses on the physical appearance of
downtown. The Streetscape project is a major downtown sidewalk improvement project that has begun. Streetscape will improve pedestrian safety in downtown, and will also feature shrubs and street trees, benches, bike racks, improved trash receptacles, and traffic signals mounted on decorative mast arms. Another design project is the façade grant program. Downtown commercial property owners can apply for an incentive grant to offset the cost of improving the exterior of their building, whether it is a new paint job, an improved awning, or a new sign.
• Economic restructuring is all projects related to business development in downtown. We have strong support of our existing downtown businesses, and hope you have the opportunity to shop and dine in downtown soon! We also have a business recruitment program to attract new retail businesses to downtown and increase the diversity of the business mix downtown.
• Organization is the volunteer management program for BHT and DDA. Many local citizens volunteer for BHT and DDA to help make the events and programs happen. We are always seeking additional volunteers, so please let us know if you are interested in volunteering your time in downtown.
