Welcome to Forsyth and Monroe County! We are so glad you have chosen to locate in our community, whether you are a newcomer or long time resident. Forsyth Better Hometown( BHT) and the Downtown Development Authority( DDA) of Forsyth are here to provide you with information and resources related to downtown Forsyth. BHT and DDA are part of a national and state organization whose mission is to revitalize traditional downtown areas with promotional events, beautification projects and business recruitment and retainment activities. Forsyth was designated a Better Hometown community in 2000 by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, the agency that regulates downtown development and revitalization throughout the state of Georgia. Forsyth BHT and DDA operate on a four-point approach to downtown revitalization, with the four points being promotion, design, economic restructuring and organization.
• Promotion consists of downtown events and retail programs to encourage people to come downtown to shop, dine, be entertained, and do business.
The Forsyth Alive 2010 Downtown Event Series is a series of concerts and seasonal events held in Forsyth. The event series, in its fifth year, provides free family-friendly entertainment throughout the year for locals and visitors. Be on the lookout around town for brochures with a 2010 event listing. Another promotion activity is the Forsyth-Monroe County Farmers Market.
Better Hometown’ s Trick or Treat party on the square is a big hit.
