Living in Halls offers the opportunity to meet new people, make lifelong friends, gain some independence and create some amazing memories – no doubt captured on Instagram and YikYak for us all to see. With activities and events, coordinated by your Halls Reps to get involved in, through the night support from the awesome Residence Support Team, not to mention all the fun you’ll have with your new friends, it is going to be a year to remember. You can speak to someone 24/7 on the following numbers: We’re sure you will have lots of questions, many of which we’ll answer when you arrive, but let us try and pre-empt a few which we are asked every year by soon to be Keele students: Oh Yeah! Every Hall has a Halls Council which is made up of a group of Halls Reps. These students are in place to feedback your thoughts, ideas or concerns to the University but also to run events, competitions and activities for your Hall throughout the year. You are in competition with other Halls with the highest scoring Hall at the end of the year winning a Ball for their Hall – pretty awesome right! Will I make friends in Halls? Absolutely – you’ll be living with other students who are in the same boat as you and who also want to meet new people. You’ll also meet friends at Hall events so make sure you sign up to these when they are advertised by your Halls Reps. If you do find that you are struggling to make connections early on then try not to worry – you will find opportunities to make connections on your course, in sports teams, societies and when on nights out. It’s not all about alcohol though, so don’t feel concerned about that – at Keele there is something for everybody and a place for everyone. What do I do if I need to talk to somebody, or am in need of some support throughout the night? In every Hall there is a team of Residence Support Assistants; students who are there to respond through the night if you have any issues or concerns. You can’t miss them in their blue t-shirts and will see them regularly as they pop around to talk to you about student campaigns and pertinent student issues throughout the year. Residence Support is one of two (together with the Campus Security) teams that operate 24/7 and throughout the year. Familiarise yourself with the contact details for your specific Hall (below) so that you know how to get in touch if you need to speak to someone.
