The Skipper Society is full of fun references , but it ’ s the Haunted Mansion Parlor where the Imagineering shines . For instance , the sheet music remains blank until the Grim Grinning Ghosts start to sing — then music notes and glowing lyrics appear .
WELCOME , FOOLISH MORTALS , TO THE EIGHTH WONDER OF THE WORLD Not far from Scat Cat Lounge , you ’ ll find two more lounge spaces dripping with detail . The Skipper Society , inspired by the world-famous Jungle Cruise , offers more to explore than the Rivers of Adventure . For instance , look closely in the booths to spot references to Jungle Cruise characters such as Alberta Falls and Felix Pechman XIII , oars representing the years the attraction opened at Disneyland and Walt Disney World , and a letter to Alberta Falls from a W . D . — three guesses who that is — which effectively brings Walt Disney into the lore of both the Jungle Cruise and the Society of Explorers and Adventurers ( S . E . A .).
Across the hall is the Haunted Mansion Parlor , every inch of which is plastered with nods to the attraction and the Imagineers who created it .
“ Rolly Crump is a big one [ represented here ],” Danny Handke , Creative Director , Walt Disney Imagineering , told WDW Magazine . “ His art is in the carpet . We have our bust as a tribute to him , and his ghost fish tank . We have tributes to X Atencio and Buddy Baker ; we have those music sheets on the shelf ,” which are a nod to the music X and Buddy wrote for Haunted Mansion decades ago .
Perhaps one of the more meta details : Today ’ s Imagineers are also a part of the parlor . Throughout the course of 30 minutes ,
you ’ ll witness a theatrical experience in this space , with intense lighting cues , sound effects , music — and exclamations recorded by those modern-day Imagineers .
“ You might hear our team ’ s voices materialize ,” Danny hinted . “ I recorded the sound I make when I see a cockroach ,” which Danny then demonstrated . Listen for his big “ aaahhh !” moment when you ’ re sitting at the bar .
TREASURE ABOUNDS Every space aboard the Disney Treasure contains small treasures like these . From the fish extenders outside your rooms to the artwork in the elevators to Mickey ’ s trunks ( hanging to dry by the start of the AquaMouse ), Imagineers left no section of the ship without nuance .
As you wander the decks , look down to see details in the carpet , which has Aladdin-inspired rug designs and jewels to represent the ship ’ s name . Look up to see the themed lighting outside your stateroom . Spot Flower artwork from Bambi in the laundry room , right by the soap ; listen closely to the radio in the corner of Skipper Society to hear the familiar spiels of your favorite Skippers ; and notice how the flavors of Jumbeaux ’ s Sweets , like the carrot cake gelato , remind you of characters from Zootopia , such as Judy Hopps .
The real treasure on the Treasure hides in the details .
