WDW Magazine December 2014 - Crowds at WDW | Page 15
Stephanie: Then we’ll see temperatures and crowds heat up hotter than the
Fourth of July!

Carl: Bazillions of hot, sweaty, grumpy people go to Walt Disney World in July.
Avoid the whole month if at all possible. The later in the month the better.
Dave: Chicken. If you have to go in July (and I do agree with Carl that you
shouldn’t!), go as late in the month as possible—especially if you are staying at a
deluxe, since rates for them bottom out beginning July 12
Stephanie: So there IS a month to avoid! Is August any better to plan a visit?

Dave: If you do, go as late as possible—the week beginning August 23. Crowds
in August start high, but diminish over the month, especially in the second half of
August, as more and more school years begin. Prices begin low at the deluxes,
and on 8/16 drop to low levels at the values and moderates as well. All this
argues for late in the month. But the peak of the hurricane season starts around
August 20 or so. Hurricanes very rarely affect a Disney World vacation, but
there’s always that possibility. So while you gotta like as late in the month as
possible, think about the whole hurricane thing…
Carl: Hurricanes, smurricanes. August is a tough month. It’s hot, but the last
couple of weeks the crowds start to go away. I’d recommend that last week of
August. Don’t worry too much about hurricanes. Worry more about the blazing
heat.
