WDW Magazine December 2014 - Crowds at WDW | Page 14

Stephanie: Then we head into May - I haven’t been to WDW this month, what’s it like? Carl: May may be the most comfortable month of the year to visit WDW. Temperatures are nice, flowers are in bloom and Star Wars comes to town. That’s right Star Wars Weekends start in mid-May. I recommend any week after Luke and his pals come to town. M A Y Dave: The week of Memorial Day has gotten increasingly ugly over the years, and at some point in May, varying each year, pleasant spring weather shifts to nasty summer heat and humidity. So to avoid both, I’d go with earlier May—the first or second week in the month. Photo by Bill Sferrazza Stephanie: Now we’re starting to look at the summer upswing, what do you predict? J U N Dave: The earlier in June the better, so I pick the week beginning May 31. June prices—and weather—are the same all month long. But June crowds build over the month as more and more kids get out of school. So the earlier is better, as some kids don’t get out of school ‘till the end of the month. Carl: Dagnabit. Dave is right again. Even with Gay Days, the first week of June is the best week to visit. Editor’s Note: Gay Days are an unofficial, unsanctioned event at WDW that draws higher crowds to each park on specific days the first week of June.
