FOR A CHANGE For her own move, Weinstein kept a round wooden table that opens to serve 12 people when needed. Chairs that matched the table were painted and reupholstered. A glass cocktail table with a carved base sits surrounded by a favorite comfortable, but not oversized sofa and a restyled sitting chair with ottoman. She recommends avoiding clumsy furniture pieces that take up room and minimizing knickknacks. The original kitchen was updated with ceiling-high cabinetry featuring roll-out shelves and self-closing drawers and doors. A peninsula with a stone countertop and cabinets underneath for more storage creates a clean modern and uncluttered look. Floor-to-ceiling windows and glass sliding doors allow in plenty of natural sunlight and open up to a balcony that extends the living space to outdoors. Throughout the apartment, Weinstein added dental trim mixed with crown molding to dress up its plain walls. Painted moldings and chair rails add dimension to walls by creating focal panels for pictures. Weinstein says that wallpaper and faux painting should not be considered and recommends glossy finish paint that looks beautiful and reflects light. 32 WAYNE MAGAZINE FALL 2015
