Journeying Toward an Ellis County First
Baylor Scott & White – Waxahachie is currently journeying toward
becoming the first hospital in Ellis County to receive Magnet ®
designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center
(ANCC). Nationally, only about seven percent of hospitals hold
Magnet status, which is widely considered to be one of the
highest honors recognizing quality of patient care a hospital
can achieve.
“For the community, this designation means confidence in
knowing that our patient outcomes have been validated,
and that we have been recognized for excellence and
innovation in nursing practice. It takes every member of
our care team to earn this recognition.”
– Cindy Murray, MBA, MHA, chief nursing officer and chief operating officer
Baylor Scott & White – Waxahachie
Magnet recognition is a rigorous process that takes at least two
to three years and includes documentation of consistent quality
outcomes for patients and an on-site survey. Baylor Scott & White
– Waxahachie hopes to receive Magnet designation within the
next two years.
