The legend class was for veteran crawlers that had highly modified rigs with stretched wheel bases, swapped in motors, and enough cage work to make you keep guessing what it started life as. The fun part about the legend class was that the drivers didn’t have cars that were too far above the stock class, but at the same time they were dedicated trail rigs that it was ok to roll over and abuse without thinking twice. That kind of attitude was necessary to complete on some of the lines that made up the Course. Body damage was likely, although there were lots of rigs that came out clean from this class. The way that the UTVs had to get creative on some of the bigger ledges and crevasses kept the crowd on the edge of their seats just as much as when the stock rigs were on course. The short wheel base, narrow platform, and smaller tires made these guys work hard! Their small size made them nimble enough to rock out though. The Street Stock class of rock crawl was the best in my opinion. This class was comprised of mostly all street legal vehicles with 33-37” tires. It is truly amazing at what a mildly modified Jeep or truck can do. I know I always surprise myself when there is a crowd of people watching and the pressure is one. You don’t want to let them down, so you pony up and make it happen for them! 40 June 2014
