There are 8 different courses that each driver / spotter team tackle over two days, 4 courses each day. The basic rules
are simple, -2 progression points for each gate completed, +10 points for each cone touched, +1 point for every back
up, and -10 if you complete the entire line of the class above where you are registered. Lowest score at the end “takes
the cake”.
There was never a dull moment the entire weekend. Watching some of the insane vertical lines that the Unlimited
and Legend class guys were taking, was a real adrenaline boost for everyone watching, not just the drivers!
Wheel stands at the
top of a 30 foot rock
mountain sure does get
the crowd hoot’n and
holler’n! A lot of the
off camber obstacles
caused a few of the rigs
to start burning a little
oil in the combustion
chamber, which made
the motor start pumping out clouds of white
smoke. Anytime a rig
got too twisted up in
a hole, rolled over, or
broke down, the recovery team was always
quick to respond with
the fork lift. They
made recovery
look like child’s
play. Sometimes
they had a rolled
over rig already
hooked up, off
of the obstacle
and in the air to
safety before you
even knew what
was happening.
They kept course
down time to a
minimum so the
show could go
on.
