A few years ago, the Board of Directors sat and dissected the problem, and put forth possible solutions. Bit by bit, the Washington County SPCA has put these ideas into action. The most recent solution that came to life was the effort in educating future generations. The Animal Welfare Institute has a number of resources available for educational purposes. Two of those are children’s books: Pablo Puppy’s Search for the Perfect Person and Kamie Cat’s Terrible Night. Pablo Puppy’s is about a puppy and an older dog living in a shelter. The book educates children about the needs of dogs and humane treatment of animals. Kamie Cat’s is about a poor kitty who gets lost and wants to be back in the safety of his home. It teaches responsible cat care and kindness toward felines. This outreach program is just another way that the Washington County SPCA serves our community.
