Westeros was no place for teenagers. Seriously. There was nothing to do! Short of taking a dragon joyride to Essos and back, there wasn't anything I'd consider an adventure. It was Friday night and I was bored out of my mind stuck here in the castle.

Don't get me wrong, being a princess does have its perks. The food was always great, my handmaids and I were thick as thieves, and being the only daughter of the two most powerful people in the Seven Kingdoms, no one dared the defy me. Unfortunately, that meant no one dared to challenge me either. I wanted to be a “normal” girl for once, and go out with friends without the whole freaking Kingsguard tagging along. Hell, I wanted friends, period.

I smiled. There were two friends I knew I could always count on. I stopped my mindless pacing around my chambers and rushed to my wardrobe, donning my riding boots and my heat-resistant gloves.

Knowing my parents would disapprove of me going out this late on my own, I opted not to leave through the front door, and instead, walked out to my balcony. I whistled, and heard Rhaegal screech from his perch above me before jumping down with a soft clack. I reached my hand up, and he nuzzled it immediately; I leaned into his warmth. Rhaegal was fierce when he needed to be - I've seen him hunt - but he was never anything but gentle with me. I've been riding him since before I could walk properly and honestly, he was the best dragon a girl could ask for.

Yes, I did say “dragon”. I was only half-joking about that joyride to Essos. If you haven't figured it out yet, Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of dragons, etc, was my mother too. And Jon Snow, bastard of Winterfell turned King in the North, was my father. Long story short, they defeated the Lannisters and the Night King and brought peace to Westeros two decades ago, and lived happily ever after, blah blah blah.
